Today we're going to be looking at how to set up and run a virtual machine on your computer.

And that is what's going to give you all of the software all at once rather than having you try to install all of these different packages and fight with them and try to get them all to play nicely with each other.

So the first thing I want to do is open up your web browser and there's a step that may or may not be possible with your computer and if it is unfortunately it's something that I really can't show you in a video for a couple of reasons.

One we're going to be doing a configuration on the bios of your computer and that's the sub operating system which actually loads before Windows even loads.

Then from there I need to go into a system configuration then I need to look for device configurations and then I have something called virtualization technology and that's where I can select it and enable it.

Because when you're running a virtual machine on your computer this supposedly makes it run better and allocates more resources to it.

Then probably you're not even going to be able to run this virtual machine but you can try it on one gig.

And that's really useful whenever you start moving programs between your host and your virtual machine.

So by all means let's go ahead and download and install the VM where tools when we come back into this and just going to maximize it a little bit you can see it's getting devices ready so it's running kind of like the settings of Windows will run the first time it's being installed right now because it's on a new computer so it's just kind of trying to acclimate itself.

And then in a moment the desktop is going to pop up just like Normally when you load Windows.

Ok so it looks like this thing's about to load and I'm just going to go ahead and hide that download a VM Ware tools.

And here we are we've updated your PC so Windows basically thinks that we just made some hardware changes when what we really did is just move the same virtual machine from one place to another and if you look in the top left of the screen you see you've got some little options here.

This one right here that looks like a box with arrows coming out of the corner that lets you go into full screen mode which is going to be very useful for us.

This dropdown here basically gives us power controls over the machine to shut it down suspended or restart it.

So rather than powering down windows like we normally do on a computer if we want to we can just hit pause let it save its state and then walk away we never have to shut it down.

But I will caution you that doing so takes up a lot of hard drive space.
